BISMARCK - The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality is accepting proposals for fiscal year 2027 Section 319 Nonpoint Source Pollution Management grants.
Funding is available to support projects that restore and protect North Dakota’s water resources by addressing nonpoint source pollution through watershed implementation, technical assistance, planning and information and education activities.
Nonpoint source pollution comes from many sources across the landscape rather than a single location. Rain or melting snow can carry soil, nutrients, bacteria and other pollutants into rivers, lakes and streams. Section 319 grant funding, provided through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the Clean Water Act, supports voluntary, locally led efforts to reduce nonpoint source pollution and improve water quality across North Dakota.
For the fiscal year 2027 grant cycle, Environmental Quality has updated its guidance to help applicants develop competitive, outcome-focused proposals. New guidance is available for Watershed and Support Project Implementation Plans (PIPs) and Information and Education (I&E) Work Plans. The updated guidance reflects current program expectations, provides standardized templates, and is intended to make applications easier to prepare and review.
