WILLISTON - Chord Energy notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) of a produced water spill resulting from a pipeline leak in Williams County. The incident occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 25, approximately 13 miles northwest of Williston.
Chord Energy estimates approximately 210 barrels or 8,820 gallons of crude oil and produced water were released, impacting rangeland. Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas production.
NDDEQ personnel have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
