KEENE – One person died in a head-on crash on N.D. Highway 23 near Keene Saturday, Aug. 29.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 6:43 a.m., a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Highway 23 near Keene. The Ram crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2013 Peterbilt truck head-on.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, Clayton Macklin, 19, Watford City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Peterbilt, Lazaro Amador, 36, Williston, was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the Highway Patrol.
Highway 23 was closed at the crash location from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
