The National Science Foundation has awarded $373,701 to Williston State College through the Advanced Technology Education Program to support the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workforce in the Bakken, according to U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND.
With more than 19,000 oil-producing wells in the Bakken, the project will help support STEM workforce needs and the evolving energy and technology industries in the region. The project aims to create a sustainable pipeline of students by expanding outreach, targeting rural communities and establishing a certification in electronic and industrial controls.
