MANDAREE The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation (MHA Nation) on Wednesday, Aug. 19, celebrated the grand opening of the Bruce A. Fox Water Treatment Plant at Mandaree.
The new plant is responsible for providing clean water to the community across Fort Berthold Reservation.
"Bruce was a dedicated public servant and a true champion of tribal water rights" and "We're proud to honor that legacy with this new facility,” MHA Nation Chairman Mark Fox said.
Fox spent 33 years working with Fort Berthold Rural Water. He ensured the water from the Missouri River was delivered safely and reliably to tribal and community members. The new facility continues this mission and marks the culmination of years of engineering and advocacy.
Leaders from across the state attended the grand opening, including U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND.
“It was an honor to join in the celebration at the community where I was adopted into the Mandan Tribe, and to have the facility named after the legendary Bruce Fox makes it all the more special," Cramer said. "Plants like this are transformational to MHA Nation and rural communities throughout North Dakota, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help provide the support needed to make it happen.”
