Forum Communications Co. announced the launch of the CBS network on its broadcast stations in the Bismarck and Minot regions, effective at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1.
Minot station KMCY 14.2 and Bismarck station KBMY 17.2 now broadcast CBS content over the air. KBMY 17.1 in Bismarck and KMCY 14.1 in Minot remain as the ABC affiliates in the region, with no changes for viewers or in programming.
CBS can be viewed over the air as well as on cable, satellite and streaming providers, according to Forum Communications. Viewers are encouraged to look at local listings to continue viewing CBS programming.
Forum Communications stated the transaction further expands its commitment to providing local news, weather, sports and information coverage to communities in the Dakotas.
"This acquisition enhances Forum's ability to serve the residents of western North Dakota in conjunction with the current operations in Broadcast and News. Forum intends to enhance the broadcast operations in the markets of Bismarck/Minot and Rapid City further," the company said in a news release.
Fargo-based Forum Communications is a family-owned media and technology company specializing in broadcast, print and digital news as well as commercial printing and agency services. Forum currently broadcasts ABC and NBC affiliated stations across North Dakota and western Minnesota, encompassing the Fargo and Minot and the Sioux Falls and Rapid City, South Dakota, TV Designated Market Areas.
