NEW TOWN - A three-day Brain Health Conference will be held Aug. 12-14 at 4 Bears Casino and Lodge in New Town. Elbowoods Memorial Health Center's Healthy Brain Initiative Team has organized the conference, with funding from the Healthy Brain Initiative grant.
The conference is free and open to the public.
The conference runs from 2-4 p.m on Aug. 12 and will feature a screening and talk circle on "Finding Pesa Sooname" by Casey Venturini.
On Aug. 13, the conference runs from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., featuring fitness activities, breakout sessions and keynote speakers on Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia in cultural context, acquired brain injury and building healthy brain habits. Beth Beckers will speak on living with a brain injury.
On Aug. 14, the conference runs from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Speakers will discuss indigenous knowledge and community pathways to healing, supporting caregivers and what lies beyond addiction treatment services.
