Arrest made in connection with child’s death

WATFORD CITY - The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest on Tuesday, Aug. 25, following an investigation into the death in May of a 7-year-old child in McKenzie County.

According to a news release, as a result of the investigation, Jerika McNeely has been arrested and charged with manslaughter, a Class B felony, in connection with the death.

On May 15, the sheriff’s office responded to a residence regarding an unresponsive 7-year-old child. Despite the lifesaving efforts, the child was pronounced deceased.

In the months following the child’s death, investigators conducted an extensive investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
