Williston research center sets July 10 Field Day

WILLISTON – North Dakota State University’s Williston Research Extension Center will hold its annual field day on July 10. Farmers, ranchers, horticulturists and anyone interested in NDSU Extension agricultural research is invited to attend this no-cost event.

Registration starts at 8:15 a.m., and the dryland and horticulture tours start at 9. A light breakfast will be available, and a lunch will follow the tour at noon.

The dryland tour and session topics include weed management, soil health and plant diseases, and some sessions will focus on hard red spring wheat and kochia.

Speakers on the horticulture tour are Tom Kalb, NDSU horticulturist in NDSU’s Department of Plant Sciences, Andrew Kuester, operator at Handy Andy’s Nursery; and Rojee Chipalu Pradhan, horticulture research specialist at NDSU’s Williston Research Extension Center.

Sessions after lunch include information from the NDSU Soil Health Express Trailer, the Williams County Soil Conservation District, NDSU Research Specialist Supervisor Edson Ncube and NDSU Extension integrated pest management scouts.

The center is located 4.5 miles west of Williston on U.S. Highway 2.
