Charles Kreps of Minot, a U.S. Navy and Vietnam veteran, was presented a Quilt of Honor by the Peace and Honor Quilts of Valor chapter at a ceremony Saturday, July 25, at River of Life Assembly of God, Minot. The quilts symbolize comfort, healing and gratitude for service. Kreps’ quilt was made by Sue Giskass of 406 Peace Makers Quilts of Valor in Great Falls, Mont., a friend and former student of Kreps. Kreps joined the Navy Reserves in high school in 1963 in Nebraska. After graduation he served from 1965-67 on the guided missile aircraft frigate U.S.S. England DLG-22, where he was involved in rescuing downed pilots.
