Roosevelt library turns eyes to ND
North Dakota couldn’t ask for a better kick off to the opening of the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora than the national attention to be created by a visit from President Donald Trump on July 1, according to U.S. Sen. John Hoeven, R-ND.
Hoeven plans to join in the activities off and on in Medora from July 1 through the grand opening on July 4. He will be participating in a panel on Friday, July 3, with four other North Dakota governors – Kelly Armstrong as moderator, Doug Burgum, Jack Dalrymple and Ed Schafer.
U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND, also will be attending the activities and participating in a Theodore Roosevelt’s Legacy in Government Today Panel with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, on Friday, July 3.
Hoeven helped pass legislation to obtain the 93 acres for the library and recently pushed another bill through the Senate to authorize Theodore Roosevelt artifacts to be displayed there, along with additional funding to match up to $50 million in private fund raising.
Hoeven called the library a one-of-a-kind museum. The interactive exhibits will create a sense of who Roosevelt was in a way that both adults and children will enjoy, he said.
“They’re going to get a real sense of TR, and what he was like, and what his presidency was all about, what his time in North Dakota was all about,” he said.
