Northwest Region enforcement planned
The North Dakota State Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at a predetermined location in Ward County Saturday, July 18. Saturation patrols will be conducted following the checkpoint.
According to NDSP, as of June 30, there have been 45 fatalities on N.D. roads. Nine of the fatalities (20%) were related to crashes involving alcohol.
“The State Fair is a time for making memories, not life-changing mistakes. As traffic increases and alcohol is more prevalent, the North Dakota State Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint to encourage safe, responsible decisions. We want everyone to enjoy the fair and return home safely at the end of the day,” said Sgt. Coby Hubble, N.D. State Patrol Northwest Regional sergeant.
The North Dakota State Patrol is committed to the Vision Zero strategy, which aims to establish a culture of personal responsibility and that every driver needs to consistently make the responsible choice to always drive sober or plan for a sober ride home. Results from this planned enforcement will be posted to the N.D. State Patrol website the week following the enforcement.
