The Western North Dakota Honor Flight served as the 2026 North Dakota State Parade grand marshal. Since it was organized in 2021, the organization has flown more than 1,000 veterans to visit memorials built in their honor in Washington, D.C. Currently, more than 400 are on the waiting list for their flight of honor. The parade, held Saturday, July 18, in Minot, had a wide variety of units to honor veterans and the nation's 250th birthday. Two World War II aircraft from the Dakota Territory Air Museum conducted flyovers during the parade as part of the tribute to veterans and the nation.
