One person was displaced in a mobile home fire in Holiday Village on Monday, July 27, according to the Minot Rural Fire Department.
The department was called shortly after 11 a.m. for a report of a house on fire. Firefighters en route called Minot, Burlington and Surrey departments for assistance after assessing the amount of smoke viewed to be coming from the fire. Smoke surrounded the structure, with fire on the northeast corner. Firefighters brought the fire under control within a half hour and a search found the building empty. The occupant was not at home at the time.
The mobile home sustained heavy smoke damage and a portion of the roof was destroyed, Assistant Fire Chief Dustin Bazille of Minot Rural said. The fire appeared to start on the outside of the home, but the cause remains under investigation, he said.
