Minot Symphony to host Secret Garden Tour

The Minot Symphony Orchestra will host its 32nd annual Secret Garden Tour on Wednesday, July 15, from 4:30-8:30 pm.
The annual Secret Garden Tour offers a rare opportunity to explore seven area gardens showcasing unique landscapes, colorful flowers, vegetable gardens, creative yard art, water features and inspiring outdoor spaces. This self-guided, open-house style event allows participants to visit each garden at their own pace using the addresses provided with their tickets.
“Whether you’re looking for gardening inspiration, a relaxing evening with friends, or simply an opportunity to enjoy some of the area’s most beautiful outdoor spaces, the Secret Garden Tour has something for everyone,” said Executive Director Ellen Fenner. “Every ticket purchased helps the Minot Symphony Orchestra enrich lives by providing opportunities for musicians and inspiration to patrons through education and the performance of diverse orchestral repertoire.”
“She Shed Cozy” is a welcoming garden in northwest Minot that combines beauty and function with a large vegetable garden, colorful flowers and inviting outdoor spaces perfect for relaxing or entertaining friends. The charming “She Shed” adds the perfect finishing touch to this cozy backyard retreat.
At the Ruelle Garden in northwest Minot, it’s business in the front and a garden party in the back. Step inside the fenced backyard to discover an abundance of colorful flowers, thriving vegetable gardens, a peaceful water fountain and whimsical handmade yard art that adds personality and charm to this inviting outdoor oasis.
As part of the tour, ticketholders will have the opportunity to explore the second generation Weiser Garden, home of the Weiser Melons. Experience nearly an acre of thriving cantaloupe and watermelons, flowers and garden beds. This garden is located about a mile south of Surrey.
Discover a peaceful backyard retreat featuring colorful flower gardens, a charming fairy garden, raised vegetable beds,and inviting spaces designed for relaxing or entertaining at the Fauske Garden in southeast Minot. This thoughtfully landscaped garden offers inspiration for gardeners and outdoor enthusiasts.
After being flooded in 2011, the Schoenbergs relocated near Logan and transformed six acres into a remarkable backyard retreat. Beginning in 2017, they leveled the hillside to create terraced gardens, a row garden and a pondless waterfall. Today, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of flowering plants, clematis, fruit trees, decorative containers, unique water features, a rain chain and an innovative underground watering system that keeps this beautiful landscape thriving.
Located on the western edge of Sawyer, Meadowlark Farm includes two large chemical-free vegetable gardens, an orchard filled with apricots, apples, and grapes, and the peaceful beauty of a working farm. Along the way, visitors may spot horses, mules, ponies, cows and a donkey grazing on the property. The farm is also home to several productive beehives, making this a unique stop that celebrates both agriculture and nature.
The beautiful containers throughout Citizens Alley showcase a vibrant mix of ornamental grasses, colorful annuals and unique foliage plants designed to inspire gardeners of every style. Visitors will discover everything from striking canna lilies, dahlias, geraniums, lavender, zinnias and marigolds to graceful papyrus, ornamental millet, coleus, trailing vines, herbs and prairie-inspired plantings that create a colorful and welcoming summer display.
Citizens Alley will be open for ticketholders at 6:30 p.m. Shop the vendors at the Garden Store, hear a preview of Thursday’s Levitt AMP Minot Music Series concert from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and register to win prizes, with drawings at 8:30 p.m.
Cécilia will perform at 7:30 to 8:30pm in Citizens Alley. The group is widely recognized as three of Canada’s finest musicians, Timi Turmel, Erin Leahy and Louis Schryer. While honoring their heritage as Cécilia, their music making has an undeniably fresh and high-spirited sound featuring accordion, piano and violin.
The Garden Store will feature local vendors offering handcrafted miniature beaded flowers, plants, jewelry, recycled and other yard art; fused glass artworks, custom T-shirts; home decor, vintage items, custom-made license plate signs, patio furniture and elevated gardens and planters.

All proceeds will benefit the programming of the Minot Symphony Orchestra.
