Bottineau awarded loan to replace lead water lines

BISMARCK - The City of Bottineau was awarded a $3.6 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to replace lead drinking water service lines, according to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and North Dakota Public Finance Agency. The project will remove a potential source of lead in drinking water and improve long-term public health.

The State Revolving Fund (SRF) programs, jointly administered by the NDDEQ and the NDPFA, awarded six loans to four communities in July to support critical water infrastructure. Also receiving loans were Almont, Cass Rural Water District and West Fargo.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the SRF programs' funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act.
