Association partners with two ND national parks

ST. LOUIS -- Jefferson National Parks Association (JNPA)announced it has expanded its partnership with the National Park Service to support two national park sites in North Dakota: Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site.

Through a cooperating association agreement with the National Park Service, JNPA now serves as the official nonprofit partner at both sites, supporting visitor education, interpretation, and park-approved projects that connect people with the stories, landscape, and cultures preserved there.

At Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora and Watford City, JNPA operates the official park stores in the park's three visitor centers and works with the National Park Service to support education, interpretation and other park-approved priorities.

At Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site in Stanton, JNPA will help expand visitor engagement and educational support, including plans to open a park store later this year. The site preserves the stories of the Northern Plains people who lived in earthlodge villages along the Knife River, a tributary of the Missouri River. For centuries, these villages were important centers of agriculture, trade, culture, and community life.

Every purchase at a JNPA-operated park store directly supports that park.

“Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site are extraordinary places that deserve an extraordinary level of support,” said David Grove, president and CEO of JNPA. “We are honored to partner with the National Park Service at these two remarkable North Dakota sites and look forward to investing in their futures for years to come.”

JNPA supports national parks and public lands across the central United States, investing an average of $3 million annually in education, interpretation, exhibits, publications, special events, visitor services and site improvements.
