Suspect arrested after early morning pursuit

The Minot Police Department has reported the arrest of a Minot woman following a vehicle pursuit in the early morning on Tuesday, June 23, in south Minot.

According to the Minot Police Department, officers initially responded to a report at a southwest Minot hotel regarding a declined card used by an unauthorized user. Officers identified the individual attempting to use the card as Emily J. Smith, 27. Smith had outstanding warrants for her arrest from the Ward County Sheriff’s Office as well as federal indictment warrants for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, distribution of fentanyl resulting in serious bodily injury and aiding and abetting.

While a search was underway in the hotel for Smith, she entered a vehicle in the parking lot and fled. Officers located Smith’s vehicle in the 3400 block of South Broadway and initiated a pursuit that spanned about 5.6 miles through southwest and southeast Minot. The pursuit came to an end after officers successfully deployed tire-deflation devices in the 1000 block of 16th Street Southwest, concluding with a high-risk traffic stop. Smith was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to the Ward County Jail for the outstanding felony-level warrants.

Charges are still pending for this incident, according to the Minot Police Department.
