Student earns silver showing off skills

ATLANTA, Ga. – Isabella Roll of Minot, a student at North Dakota State College of Science, earned a silver medal in Automotive Refinishing Technology at the SkillsUSA Championships, which brought together more than 6,500 state champions from across the United States during the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
The SkillsUSA Championships is one of the largest workforce development events in the world, designed and judged by industry professionals. Categories focus on abilities employers seek in today’s workforce, including workplace, leadership and real-world technical skills.
Roll’s event consisted of an evaluation of real industry-standard refinishing techniques, a written examination and a professional interview. Roll demonstrated skills that included surface preparation, paint mixing and matching, spray gun operation, troubleshooting and finish quality.
