Sibyl Center kicks off big season on Saturday

STANLEY – Stanley’s Sibyl Center for the Performing Arts has a 12-concert lineup this summer and fall that board president Taryn Lumley describes as impressive for a small town arts center.
Country music legend Suzy Bogguss has been writing, singing and producing for four decades, with Grammy Award-winning performances and platinum-selling records. She will be at the Sibyl July 11.
Darryl Worley, who is into his third decade in country music, is best known for his 9/11 tribute ballad in 2023, “Have You Forgotten?” The song spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard country singles chart. He performs Oct. 24 in Stanley.
Lumley said his connections in the music industry have helped in assembling a slate of high caliber musicians, but so has $160,000 in improvements to the Sibyl, including investments that improve the concert experience. Performers such as Bogguss, who is coming off another Grand Ole Opry appearance, and Worley, who recently played Ryman Auditorium, both in Nashville, don’t play just anywhere, Lumley said. Enticing them to Stanley requires having a quality venue, he said.
The Sibyl is appreciated by both performers and audiences.

“They always love the Sybil Center because it’s one of a kind,” Lumley said. “You are glad you came because it’s such a fabulous place and atmosphere.”
The season begins at the Sibyl Center, located at 301 1st St. SW in Stanley, on Saturday, June 13, with all shows starting at 7 p.m.
– June 13, Dakota Drifters, a North Dakota and South Dakota Hall of Fame Band featuring the Sibyl Center’s own lead guitarist, Carl Kannianen.
– June 20, North Dakota National Guard 188th Army Band playing rock, country and big band sounds. This concert is free.
– June 27, award-winning, soul-stirring country and gospel artist Chris Golden has performed with Alabama, Restless Heart and the Oak Ridge Boys and is a multiple gospel award winner. He is making his third appearance at the Sibyl, this time as part of his Witness Tour. The tour features music from his new album, “Witness,” along with audience favorites, inspiring stories and moments of laughter and encouragement that have made him a popular draw at previous performances.
– July 11, Bogguss, a Grand Ole Opry member with hit songs that include “Hey Cinderella,” “Aces” and “Drive South.” Best known for her country music, she also released a modern swing album with Ray Benson and her 2007 album of original music reached No. 4 on the jazz charts.
– Aug. 8, Everly Brothers Experience, featuring the top Everly Brothers tribute band in North America.
– Aug. 22, The Browns, a Sibyl favorite and pure entertainment from the Dove Award nominees.
– Aug. 28, Malpass Brothers, traditional country music TV duo who opened for many years for Merle Haggard.
– Sept. 12, South of Mason, four members with successful solo careers form this dynamic vocal group, performing country and gospel in a performance that fans of Larry Gatlin will love.

– Sept. 19, Henri Herbert & The Fury, one of the greatest rock/blues pianists in the world.
– Sept. 26, Ronnie McDowell, country music legend with more than 30 top 40 hits, including “Older Women” and “The King is Gone.”
– Oct. 10, Dan Hare Centerfield-Creedence Clearwater Revival, an elite North American tribute performance.
– Oct. 24, Worley, country music heavyweight with No. 1 hits of the 2000s, including “I Miss My Friend” and “Awful, Beautiful Life.”
Lumley said many of the artists are new to the Sibyl venue and reflect the board’s mission to make Stanley a destination city. Quality performers are essential in today’s culture and economy to establishing a destination, he said, and the Sibyl Center has acknowledged that in featuring Larry Gatlin last year and in developing this year’s concert series. While the 2026 season includes nationally recognized singers and songwriters, some of the best talent is homegrown, Lumley added, highlighting the National Guard musicians as second to none.
In addition to quality, Lumley said, he looks for artists who are humble, down-to-earth folks, much like the people of western North Dakota, and who want to perform for rural and small-town audiences.
“I always look forward to coming back to Stanley,” Golden said in announcing his return. “The Sibyl Center audiences have been incredibly supportive, and I’m excited to share these new songs and stories from the Witness Tour.”
Lumley noted sponsors play a key role for the Sibyl as a small nonprofit going after big names. Freedom Matters USA is sponsor for the 2026 season.
The Sibyl Center board also aggressively seeks donations and grants to continue its work. The center has had local support from the Mountrail County Job Development Authority, Stanley Area Community Foundation and Stanley Visitors Promotion Fund.
The Sibyl Center’s seating is limited, but concert-goers can reserve a spot through a new online ticket portal. Links are available from the Sibyl Center’s website or social media.
Concert information will be listed as tickets become available over the course of the season. A discount is available with the purchase of a season ticket for all shows. No ticket is necessary for the National Guard 188th Army Band performance.
