Deferred sentence given for narcotic sales near park

A Minot woman who pleaded guilty to delivering controlled substances to a juvenile within 300 feet of a public park has been granted a deferred imposition of sentence.

Brynn Elizabetha Swanson, 20, entered her plea in March, pleading guilty to two Class B felony counts of delivery of a schedule II stimulant and one Class A felony count of delivery of a controlled substance I or II within 300 feet of a public park. One additional Schedule II stimulant count and four counts of delivery of marijuana were dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

According to court documents, Minot Police officers were notified in July 2025 of a suspected narcotics transaction involving a juvenile and an adult suspect identified as Swanson. The juvenile’s parent had located a suspicious pill fragment along with messages referencing drug sales on the juvenile’s cell phone.

Investigators identified the pill fragment as a 20 milligram Adderall capsule, a prescription stimulant containing amphetamine salts. The juvenile told investigators she had been communicating with Swanson for several months and had purchased Adderall and marijuana on multiple occasions.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, one of the transactions occurred at a convenience store determined to be 242 feet from Oak Park, which was confirmed by investigators through surveillance footage. Five additional transactions were identified through payment app receipts and text messages between Swanson and the juvenile.

Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Swanson to serve two years and six months with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with credit for 167 days already served and three years of supervised probation upon release. Swanson was ordered to have no contact with the victims along with a 50 yard distance provision. Swanson also was assessed $125 in court fines and fees.

Starting at $2.99/week.
