US 52 work to affect several communities

Work on U.S. 52 that is expected to begin May 4 will affect Harvey, Drake, Anamoose, Martin and Fessenden, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation.

Work will begin in Harvey, where the intersection of U.S. 52 and N.D. Highway 3 will be reconstructed in three phases. Signed detours will be in place for each phase. A new T-intersection will be constructed, the shoulders widened and a new centerline culvert will be installed on Highway 3. Motorists may drive on gravel during road construction. Work is expected to finish in mid-August, weather permitting.

Work is scheduled to begin May 25, weather permitting, on U.S. Highway 52 between mile markers 141 and 185. Seven areas, spanning from Drake to Fessenden, require sub-cut or full depth repairs, requiring motorists to drive on gravel. Crews will work one area at a time, in maximum six-mile stretches, beginning near Drake and moving south to Fessenden. There will be flaggers and pilot cars present. Motorists should expect slight delays of up to 10 minutes, as well as 14-foot width restrictions. Milling and paving is expected to start in mid-June.

NDDOT reminds motorists to slow down and use extra caution in construction zones.

Starting at $2.99/week.
