St. John juvenile found safe after K9 search

ST. JOHN — A missing juvenile was safely located in Rolette County following a K9 search by the North Dakota Highway Patrol on Tuesday, May 19.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, it was contacted to assist with a missing juvenile from St. John. Six members of the N.D. State Patrol Emergency Response Team responded along with mantrailing canines Gary and Lorace with support from three additional troopers.

The K9s were deployed within the St. John area and trailed from the juvenile’s residence to a location on the west side of St. John. A follow-up search by K9 Gary in the area resulted in the juvenile being located safe and unharmed.

The search was assisted by the Turtle Mountain Bureau of Indian Affairs, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians Police Department, Rolla Fire, St. John Fire, Belcourt Fire, Rolette County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Border Patrol, Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians Tribal Council, Turtle Mountain Missing Indigenous Persons local chapter and Turtle Mountain Horse Nation Search and Rescue.
