WILLISTON – A fire damaged the Leonardite Products facility along Highway 1804 in Williston Saturday, May 2, according to the Williston Fire Department.

The department was dispatched at 6:08 a.m. for a report of smoke coming from the roof of one of the structures.

Arriving crews immediately observed active smoke and flames from the roof. Due to the location, building type and conditions, additional resources were requested to support operations. The Williston Rural Fire Department was requested to support water shuttling operations due to limited hydrant availability.

Crews quickly had the fire contained, but due to the nature of the structure had to engage in extensive overhaul operations. The Watford City Fire Department was requested for mutual aid to assist with its aerial ladder truck. Williams County/Williston Emergency Management assisted with coordinating resources and providing support equipment. Toward the end of the incident, WFD worked with private roofing crews to extinguish hot spots while they removed the roof.

Starting at $2.99/week.
