The roar of the 1920s arrives on the stage of Ann Nicole Nelson Hall as Western Plains Opera and Minot State University Theatre Department present the Tony Award-winning production, ‘Chicago.’ This production, directed by Sarah Belfrage Honerman and conducted by Briana Schwan, will be performed Thursday through Saturday, April 9-11, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 12, at 2 p.m.

A sharp-witted satire on corruption and celebrity, the production promises to razzle-dazzle audiences with high-stakes drama and iconic musical numbers. Set amidst the flashiness of the Jazz Age, ‘Chicago’ tells the story of rival “merry murderesses” Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly. Locked up in the Cook County Jail, the two compete for the headlines and the sympathy of the public, aided by the silver-tongued lawyer Billy Flynn. From the powerhouse “Cell Block Tango” to the show-stopping “All That Jazz,” the production explores the thin line between infamy, truth and spectacle.

Minot State University students get in free with their valid MSU ID, and a military discount is available for those with an active ID when purchased at the door. Tickets also are available online. The box office opens at 6 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
