Ward County archers compete at McKenzie County match

WATFORD CITY — Ward County 4-H archers competed in the McKenzie County 4-H Indoor Archery match held March 14 in Watford City, with 16 Ward County 4-H youth representing the county across multiple age and bow divisions.

Indoor archery competitions are divided by both age and bow type. Age divisions include Beginner (ages 8-10), Junior (11-13), and Senior (14-18), and Masters (ages 14 and up who have qualified for national competition). Bow divisions include Barebow, which uses no sights or release aids, and Freestyle, which allows sights and releases.

Results of this match for Ward County 4-H participants are as follows:

Senior Freestyle Division: Cole Whitcher, Minot, 10th place (279).

Also representing Ward County were Faith Carpenter of Granville, and Paislee Everson, Tyson Perdue and Brandie Yoder of Minot. The team of Carpenter, Everson, Perdue and Whitcher placed second overall with a combined score of 821.

Senior Barebow Division: Clara Potts, Minot, eighth place (248).

Also representing Ward County was Abrielle Michel of Berthold. The team of Michel and Potts placed fourth overall with a combined score of 476.

Junior Freestyle Division: Quade Everson, Minot, first place (149); and Tyson Yoder, Minot, fourth place (146).

Also representing Ward County were Tatum Ehli, Peyton Opp, Hadley Yoder and Kelbie Yoder, all of Minot, and Tabitha Hauge of Surrey. The team of Quade Everson, Hauge, Hadley Yoder and Tyson Yoder placed first overall with a combined score of 432.

Beginner Freestyle Division: Claire Babinchak, Carpio, fifth place (120).

Beginner Barebow Division: Representing Ward County was Olivia Michel of Berthold.
