WEST FARGO — Ward County had eight shooters participate in the Cass County 4-H Air Rifle Hybrid Invitational Match on March 5 and March 6 in West Fargo.
The hybrid format allows shooters to compete from their home ranges while still measuring skills against participants statewide. Ward County 4-H participants shot their targets at the Minot Rifle and Pistol Club in Minot, then mailed completed targets to Cass County for official scoring. Participation in hybrid helps 4-H competitors build consistency, confidence and competition readiness while gaining experience in a structured tournament setting.
The match featured age-based divisions including Beginners (ages 8-10), Juniors (11-13), and Seniors (14-18), and Masters (age 14 and older who have qualified for national competition). Participants used .177 caliber sporter air rifles on AR 5/10 International 10-meter targets.
Beginner competitors shot from a seated, bench-rested position, while Junior and Senior competitors competed in standing, kneeling and prone positions.
