The Minot Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a subject in an investigation into stolen credit cards and a stolen vehicle.

On April 8, officers began investigating a report of stolen credit cards that were used to make purchases at Walmart, according to department information. Surveillance footage shows a suspect making a purchase at about 6:11 a.m.

Later on April 8, at about 7:53 p.m., officers located a 2002 Ford F-150 that had been reported stolen earlier in the day. Officers saw the vehicle leaving a northwest Minot hotel and began following it to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Third Avenue and Sixth Street Northwest. The driver refused to stop and fled southbound on Sixth Street Northwest. Officers initiated a pursuit into southwest Minot, which was later terminated near the 2200 block of 20th Avenue Southwest due to concern for public safety.

Shortly after the pursuit was terminated, the vehicle was located near Aspen Circle and 18th Street Southwest, following a report from a nearby resident who saw an adult male exit the vehicle and flee on foot, police stated.

Officers coordinated a large-area search near the grass fields south of Maysa Arena. The North Dakota Highway Patrol and Ward County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the search. The search included utilization of the drones from the Minot Police Department and North Dakota Highway Patrol, as well as Minot Police Department K9 units.

The suspect was not located. Through the investigation, officers came to suspect the stolen vehicle is connected to the unlawful use of credit cards. Both incidents remain under investigation.

Anyone with information that could help identify or locate the suspect should contact the Minot Police Department at 852-0111.

Starting at $2.99/week.
