Suspect arrested in theft investigation
The Minot Police Department’s investigations into a stolen credit card and vehicle this week received a break on Friday when the suspect returned to the scene of the crime.
Officers received a report from Walmart asset protection that the suspect from an April 8 stolen credit card investigation had returned to the store with two other individuals. Officers were provided vehicle information as the group left the area and initiated a traffic stop near the 3700 block of 16th Street Southwest. The individuals were traveling in a rideshare vehicle.
The suspect, Jaydence E. Crepps, 18, of Minot, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ward County Jail. Crepps is charged with unlawful entry, a Class C felony; six counts of unlawful use of personal identifying information-payment card information, a Class C felony; and possession of a stolen vehicle, a Class C felony, in relation to two investigations for which the department had sought help in identifying the suspect.
The second investigation was initiated on April 8 after officers had found a 2002 Ford F-150 that was reported stolen earlier in the day. As the vehicle left a hotel in northwest Minot, they attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled. Officers terminated the pursuit near the 2200 block of 20th Avenue Southwest for public safety. The stolen credit card and vehicle theft cases were believed to be related.
Crepps also is charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-methamphetamine, a Class C felony, stemming from items located during his arrest.
During the traffic stop, Shaylee Lenoir, 25, of Minot, also was arrested. Lenoir is charged with making a false report to law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. Officers also discovered Lenoir had three outstanding warrants, and she was transported to the Ward County Jail.
A third individual in the vehicle was identified and later released. At this time, no charges have been filed against that individual, according to Minot Police.
The department stated the investigation into these incidents remains ongoing, and additional charges may be pending. It also expressed its appreciation for the public’s assistance in helping identify the suspect. Numerous tips were received that aided officers in the investigation.
