Medora foundation sponsors Best History Teacher contest
The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation (TRMF) is inviting students across the state to honor the educators who bring the past to life. In anticipation of the Back-To-School & Celebrate History Night at the Medora Musical on Aug. 15, the foundation has officially opened nominations for the Best History Teacher in North Dakota Contest.
The contest encourages students to submit a written report of two pages or fewer, sharing specific examples of how their teachers make history vibrant and relevant. One grand prize winner will receive $1,000 for classroom supplies, while four finalists will each receive $500. Additionally, all five recognized educators will receive two tickets to the Medora Musical and a one-night stay at Elkhorn Quarters.
“History is the heartbeat of Medora, and we know there are incredible teachers across North Dakota who go the extra mile to shape the next generation of storytellers,” said Daniel Gannarelli, TRMF’s chief revenue officer. “This contest is our way of giving back to the educators who inspire curiosity and leadership in their classrooms every day.”
The Back-To-School celebration is part of the Medora Musical’s Summer Showcase Nights and includes a back-to-school pop-up shop featuring essentials for the upcoming school year. It includes an afternoon cast meet-and-greet, free live music featuring Elizabeth Collin, family dining perks and a post-show party following the Medora Musical.
Students can nominate a favorite history teacher by visiting the Medora website. Submissions should focus on how the teacher stands out and “makes history come alive.” While not required, students are encouraged to include photos or files that supports their stories.
