City announces grant funds for housing projects
The City of Minot has announced the availability of funding to support projects aimed at improving housing for primarily low-and moderate-income individuals.
This opportunity is available to nonprofit entities, for-profit entities, community-based development organizations, community development financial institutions, faith-based organizations, an institute of higher learning if carrying out Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) activities, developers and contractors.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program provides funding to states and localities to support community development activities aimed at improving housing,
economic opportunities and infrastructure. In 2023, the City of Minot was designated an Entitlement Community and subsequently submitted an application and consolidated plan for CDBG funding to HUD for program years 2024-2028.
The city’s plan has three primary components: support activities that increase the number of jobs in Minot, especially for low-to moderate-income residents; ensure a wide variety of housing opportunities are available; and provide supportive services to residents in poverty.
Awards may be granted up to the maximum available program amount, to include the remaining available funding from the 2024 and 2025 program years. The submission deadline is 4:30 p.m. on May 22. For more information, contact Jodi Erickson, grant manager, at jodi.erickson@minotnd.gov.
