CDBG grant award announced for Minot
Minot will receive $287,456 in the latest round of Community Development Block Grant awards, according to an announcement from U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND. The program provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income persons.
The latest allocation is a portion of the amount the city expects for 2026. Since becoming an entitlement city in 2023, Minot received a direct allocation of $331,580 in 2024 and $315,990 in 2025.
Earlier this year, the city announced the availability of $468,319 from remaining 2024 and 2025 funds to be allocated to organizations to support projects aimed at improving housing, increasing economic opportunities , and infrastructure for primarily low- and moderate-income individuals. The application deadline for those funds closed March 24.
Fargo, Grand Forks and Bismarck also received direct allocations in the latest round, and the State of North Dakota received $3.56 million to be distributed within the state. The state also received $489,698 from the Emergency Solutions Grant Program, designed to assist people with quickly regaining stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness.
The state received $3 million and Fargo $447,443 from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, which provides grants to be used in partnership with local nonprofit groups to fund a wide range of activities, including building, buying, rehabilitating affordable housing for rent or homeownership or providing direct rental assistance to low-income people.
