Area students were among 20 individuals awarded $1,000 scholarships through the North Dakota Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee.

Laykin Feller of Velva received the Becki Palmer Scholarship, which is awarded to a high school senior in memory of a NDFB employee who lost her battle with cancer in 2006.

Lily Solemsaas of Sherwood received the NDFB Agriculture Scholarshp, awarded to undergraduate students majoring in agriculture who have completed or will be completing their freshman years of post-secondary school.

Scholarship money is raised through a live auction at the NDFB annual meeting, held in November.
