Youth archers shine at 4-H archery match

Ward County 4-H Shooting Sports hosted the Ward County Archery Match Feb. 21 at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in Minot, welcoming 244 participants from 19 counties, including 35 archers from Ward County.

The indoor match featured categories divided by age and bow type. Age divisions included Beginner (8-10 years), Junior (11-13), Senior (14-18), and Masters (age 14 and older who have qualified for a national contest). Bow divisions include Barebow, which uses no sights or releases, and Freestyle, which allows for sights and releases.

Results for Ward County participants are as follows:

– Senior Freestyle Division: first place, Teagan Strilcov, Minot, (Score: 298); sixth place, Breanna Mindt, Minot (Score: 293); eighth place, Grady Mostad, Minot (Score: 291).

Also representing Ward County were Brynlee Bloms of Carpio; Faith Carpenter of Granville; Paislee Everson, Tyson Perdue, Rachel Privratsky, Cole Whitcher, Brandie Yoder of Minot; and Stetson Brandvold of Ryder.

Team Result: Mindt, Mostad, Strilcov and Whitcher placed first with a combined score of 882.

– Senior Barebow Division: sixth place, Raegan Albert, Garrison (Score: 271).

Also representing Ward County were B. Bloms, Mindt and Abrielle Michel of Berthold.

Team Result: R. Albert, B. Bloms, A. Michel and Mindt placed fourth with a combined score of 770.

Junior Freestyle Division: third place, Tyson Yoder, Minot (Score: 149); fourth place, Quade Everson, Minot (Score: 147); fifth place, Owen Peterson, Minot (Score: 146)

Also representing Ward County were Heston Seifert of Burlington, Tatum Ehli, Peyton Opp, Ryder Prellwitz, Fletcher Privratsky, Hadley Yoder and Kelbie Yoder of Minot, Sophia Carlton of Norwich and Tabitha Hauge of Surrey.

Team Result: Q. Everson, Hauge, O. Peterson, and T. Yoder placed first with a combined score of 442.

– Junior Barebow Division: fourth place, Taryn Albert, Garrison (Score: 262)

Also representing Ward County was Tayler Knoke of Surrey.

Team Result: T. Albert and Knoke placed sixth with a combined score of 496.

Beginner Freestyle Division: second place, Rhett Bloms, Carpio (Score: 128); ninth place, Parker Murphy, Carpio (Score: 119)

Also representing Ward County were Claire Babinchak of Carpio, Emma Peterson and Lillian Privratsky of Minot.

Team Result: Babinchak, R. Bloms, Murphy, and E. Peterson placed third with a combined score of 345.

– Beginner Barebow Division: ninth place, R. Bloms (Score: 206)

Representing Ward County were Olivia Michel of Berthold, Landon Huettl of Garrison and Victoria Carlton of Norwich.

Team Result: R. Bloms, V. Carlton, Huettl and O. Michel placed third with a combined score of 527.
