Two year sentence for corruption of minors

A Towner man who pleaded guilty to three counts of corruption of a minor has been sentenced to two years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Anthony Prellwitz, 26, appeared in North Central District Court on Wednesday, March 25, for sentencing, having pleaded guilty in November to the three counts of corruption of a minor-victim over 15, and delivery of controlled substance-marijuana, all Class C felonies. Two additional counts of delivery of a controlled substance, promoting obscenity to minors and possession of certain materials prohibited were dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

According to court documents, Prellwitz was charged after Minot Police investigated reports from three juvenile victims accusing Prellwitz of sexual assault and providing them marijuana. Prellwitz admitted during an interview with investigators that he knew the victims were underage and gave them marijauna, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Prellwitz to serve five years with the Department of Corrections, with all but two years suspended pending the completion of five years of supervised probation upon release. Prellwitz was also ordered to register as a sex offender, and to have no contact with all three victims with 300 foot distance provisions. He was also ordered to pay $525 in court fines and fees, and given credit for 246 days already served.
