Two Tioga residents injured in crash
BELFIELD — Two Tioga men, ages 36 and 62, were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 85, three miles north of Belfield Monday, March 9.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 12:53 p.m., a 2024 Volvo truck pulling a flatbed trailer, driven by a 45-year-old Huntington, West Virginia, man, was traveling south on Highway 85. The Volvo drifted over the fog line before the driver corrected to the left. The vehicle then lost control, entered the northbound lane and jackknifed. A 2020 Silverado pulling an enclosed trailer, driven by the 36-year-old Tioga man, struck the trailer of the Volvo.
The driver and passenger of the Silverado were both seriously injured and taken to a Dickinson hospital. The driver of the Volvo was not injured. All involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts.
Highway 85, both northbound and southbound lanes in the crash area, was shut down for about an hour and a half.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
