Stanley foster parents enter pleas in murder case
A Stanley couple charged in the death of a three-year-old foster child in their care have pleaded guilty to murder in North Central District Court on Thursday.
Jamie L. Johnson, 44, and Raymond F. Johnson, 62, entered changes of plea to guilty at a pretrial conference in Stanley before Judge Gary Lee. Both Johnson’s pleaded guilty to the Class AA felony charge, and Jamie Johnson also pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse.
According to court documents, the foster parents were charged after law enforcement and emergency services were dispatched to their residence on March 19, 2025 for an unresponsive child. The victim was transported to a Stanley emergency room, but was pronounced deceased that evening.
After interviews with both defendants and other children in the home, BCI agents reviewed subpoenaed home surveillance footage from the Johnson’s residence, which recorded multiple incidents of abuse on the victim and other children.
Lee ordered a presentence investigation and psychological evaluation for both defendants, with a status conference scheduled for July. A sentencing date has not yet been set based on court records.
