School spirit program gives to local schools
FARGO – Gate City Bank reports it has donated more than $500,000 to local schools and colleges through its My School Spirit program.
Launched in 2015, the program allows customers to customize their debit cards with designs from more than 70 high schools and colleges across the region. Gate City Bank makes a one-time $10 donation to the participating school when a customer orders their first My School Spirit debit card.
Minot schools received $4,550 from debit card orders in 2025 and more than $31,800 since the program launched. At Minot High School, donated funds are used to support their food pantry and help students in need.
“We are very grateful for the community’s support with the School Spirit cards,” said Corrine Schell, Minot High School accounting assistant.
North Dakota State University has received the largest donation, with more than $14,000 contributed in 2025 and more than $150,000 donated since the program started.
“Seeing our communities rally behind their local schools through the My School Spirit program is truly inspiring. Every debit card ordered represents pride in our hometown teams and a meaningful investment in students’ futures,” said Kim Settel, executive vice president and chief retail banking officer at Gate City Bank, Fargo.
