February had above average temps, snow, moisture

This past month of February had an average temperature of 24.1 degrees, which is 12 degrees above the 119-year long-term average of 24.1 degrees, according to Austin Kraklau of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

He said the lowest temperature of the month was -12 degrees on Feb. 22 and the high was 49 degrees on Feb. 14.

The total moisture for the month was 0.64 inches, which is 0.15 inches above the long-term average of 0.49 inches, according to Kraklau.

He said the total snowfall for the month was 6.4 inches, which is 0.8 inches above the long-term average of 5.6 inches.

“This has been the most snow and moisture for the month of February since 2019, when Minot received 18.8-inches that amounted to 1.79-inches of liquid equivalent,” Kraklau said.
