City of Minot recognized for financial reporting excellence
The City of Minot was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, an achievement for which the City of Minot has been recognized 46 consecutive years.
“Fiscal responsibility is a top priority for the City of Minot,” said City Manager Tom Joyce. “Our Finance Department works diligently toward that initiative every day. We appreciate the recognition of that continued professionalism and commitment to transparency.”
The recognition follows the GFOA review of the annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending on Dec. 31, 2024. The report is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program in 1945 for state and local governments. Using generally accepted accounting principles, the program promotes the spirit of transparency and full disclosure. GFOA represents more than 25,000 members and the communities they serve in the United States and Canada.
