Another council member to step down

Lisa Olson

Minot City Council member Lisa Olson has announced she will not seek reelection in June.

“After thoughtful reflection, I have decided not to seek reelection to the Minot City Council in the upcoming 2026 municipal election,” Olson said. “Serving the residents of Minot since 2010 has been a great honor. I am incredibly grateful for the trust they placed in me. This was not an easy decision. However, at this time in my life I feel it is best for me personally and for my family to step back from public office and focus on other priorities. I remain deeply committed to Minot and will continue to support efforts that make our city an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

She also thanked fellow council members, city staff, community partners and all residents who have engaged with her throughout my tenure.

“Your input, passion and dedication have made my service rewarding,” she said. “Although I will not be on the ballot this year, I look forward to remaining involved in our community and supporting positive progress wherever I can.”

Council members Mike Hayes and Paul Pitner previously announced they will not be seeking to remain on the council. Mayor Mark Jantzer is the only member campaigning to retain his seat.

Starting at $2.99/week.
