Williston Fire Department responds to residential fire

WILLISTON — The Williston Fire Department responded to a reported fire on the 1600 block of Sand Creek Drive in Williston on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

According to the fire department, the caller reported an active fire in a bedroom on the residence’s basement level at 1 p.m., and that the residents required assistance evacuating the structure. Crews arrived to find the occupants evacuating and confirmed all had exited the home. The occupants reported using a fire extinguisher to address the fire, and crews confirmed the fire was mostly extinguished before proceeding with overhaul operations and ventilated the residence.

Six individuals were transported to a Williston hospital for evaluation and treatment for smoke inhalation. According to the fire department’s Fire Prevention Division, the incident was caused by charging an electronic device on a bed.
