Wheat Show offers weather update
Submitted Photo Mark Ewens, a Grand Forks meteorologist, speaks about how the eruption of the submarine volcano Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai in the South Pacific ocean in January 2022 is still affecting the weather worldwide. The eruption blasted an unprecedented amount of water into the stratosphere on Jan.15, 2022, creating the largest atmospheric pressure wave ever recorded. Ewens spoke at the 73rd National Hard Spring Wheat Show in Williston Wednesday, Feb. 4. Other events at the wheat show were an appreciation breakfast, agricultural cost management workshop, awards lunch and speakers covering weed control and chemical updates, wheat disease, wheat breeding and crop market and trade outlook.
