Ward County 4-H archers shine at third indoor match

Ward County 4-H archers continued their strong indoor season with a solid showing at the Bottineau County 4-H Indoor Archery Match held Jan. 24 in Bottineau.

The competition marked the third indoor match of the season, with 16 Ward County youth representing the county across multiple age and bow divisions.

Indoor archery competitions are divided by both age and equipment class. Age divisions include Beginner (ages 8-10), Junior (11-13), Senior (14-18) and Masters (ages 14 and older who have qualified for national competition). Bow divisions include Barebow, which uses no sights or release aids, and Freestyle, which allows sights and releases.

In the Senior Freestyle Division, Ward County competitors included Brynlee Bloms of Carpio, Faith Carpenter of Granville, and Paislee Everson, Breanna Mindt, Grady Mostad and Brandie Yoder, all of Minot. The team of Carpenter, Everson, Mindt and Mostad placed seventh with a combined score of 804.

In the Senior Barebow Division, Clara Potts of Minot, along with Bloms and Mindt, represented Ward County. Their team placed fifth with a combined score of 752.

Placing in the Junior Freestyle Division were:

– Quade Everson, Minot, fourth with a score of 146.

– Tyson Yoder, Minot, sixth with a score of 144.

– Ryder Prellwitz, Minot, eighth with a score of 141.

Additional Ward County participants included Tatum Ehli, Hadley Yoder and Kelbie Yoder of Minot, and Tabitha Hauge of Surrey. The team of Everson, Hauge, Prellwitz and Tyson Yoder earned second place with a combined score of 431.

In the Beginner Freestyle Division, Parker Murphy of Carpio placed fourth with a score of 127. Also representing Ward County was Rhett Bloms of Carpio. The team of Bloms and Murphy placed seventh with a combined score of 191.

In the Beginner Barebow Division, Rhett Bloms placed fifth with a score of 230.
