Minot North Student awarded Eagle Scout

Kasey Tennyson

A celebration has been scheduled to celebrate a local Minot North student who recently was awarded the Eagle Scout rank.

The event honoring Kasey Tennyson will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Congregational United Church of Christ Church at 430 North Broadway in Minot. Tennyson is Boy Scout Troop 425’s 109th Eagle Scout. A reception will be served in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the Court of Honor ceremony.

Tennyson attends honor classes at Minot North High School and is currently employed at the SRT Help Desk. After graduation, Tennyson plans to pursue a career in the information technology industry.

Tennyson’s scouting career began as a first grader in Cub Scouts with Pack 419 of Roosevelt Elementary School in Minot, where he earned the Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouts. He joined Scouts BSA Troop 415 in February 2019, and held leadership positions such as chaplain aide, librarian, historian, assistant patrol leader, scribe, OA representative, patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader.

Tennyson earned 34 merit badges and special awards for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience and troop meeting perfect attendance award from 2019-2023. Tennyson’s Eagle Scout project at the Minot Congregational United Church of Christ involved planning, organizing and coordinating both volunteers and materials. The project involved foundation leveling of one signboard; adding landscaping rock; the re-shingling of a roof and repairing a shed door. Tennyson completed his project with the help of 12 volunteers and more than 60 hours in June 2025.
