City to construct new water, sewer building

11Water and sewer building

The Minot City Council has approved plans to move forward with construction of a new building to house the Water and Sewer Department. The estimated project cost is $3.5 million, including demolition of the existing building and construction of the new facility, according to the City of Minot.

In July of 2025, Council authorized the selection of a firm to design a replacement building for the existing Water and Sewer Department building. Ackerman-Estvold has been working through the design of the new building for the past few months, the city reported.

The project consists of demolishing the existing 4,400 square foot structure and constructing a new building of about 6,000 square feet in the same footprint. Additionally, the new building will be turned 90 degrees to provide public access directly off 31st Street Southeast to improve customer access and minimize public access to the rest of the operations in the surrounding area.

The new facility was presented as part of the 2025 Capital Improvements Plan and funding was approved in the 2026 budget. With design complete, bidding the project is the next step in the process.

Starting at $2.99/week.
