Candidate enters Minot council race

Kyler Collom

Kyler Collom announced Tuesday, Feb. 24, he will seek an at-large seat on the Minot City Council in the June 9 city election with his campaign message: “A Voice for Minot’s Next Generation.”

He said his campaign will focus on three priorities. The priorities are keeping property taxes low through disciplined budgeting, making homeownership realistic for working people and young families, and finishing flood control within the next decade so Minot can move forward into its future.

Collom is a lifelong Minot resident, a licensed massage therapist with Spectrum School of Massage, a junior high football coach, and has covered the Minot City Council for the past two years for The Dakotan.

“I’m running for city council to be a voice for Minot’s next generation,” he said in his announcement. “I’ve lived here my whole life and have experienced losing my childhood home in the 2011 flood but have also had the opportunity of building my career and serving the community today. After covering City Hall for the past two years, I’m running as an independent-minded, practical voice focused on responsible budgeting, protecting core services, and keeping Minot affordable for young people and families.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
