Williston announces Target coming to Williston Square
WILLISTON – Target Corp. has selected Williston Square in Williston as the site for a more than 134,000 square foot store, according to the City of Williston Economic Development Department (WED). It will be the first Target store in western North Dakota and sixth in the state.
“I’m proud of the Williston team that positioned our city to be able to secure a commitment from a major retailer that will improve our economy and provide the services that our citizens deserve,” said Williston Mayor Howard Klug. “The hours of recruitment, planning, engineering and design of Williston Square created the edges of a giant puzzle that needs to be completed. It all started with Genesis, a local business, and then the restaurants came, and now a major anchor that will attract other retailers. Our team will continue until the puzzle is complete. Nobody knows how long it will take, but it will be beautiful when it is finished.”
“The arrival of a major retailer signals confidence in Williston’s economy and strengthens our position as a hub for commerce in western North Dakota,” said Williston City Commissioner and portfolio holder Tori Siemieniewski. It is a clear sign that our community is thriving and ready for the future. This achievement required careful planning and teamwork, and I am honored to have played a role in bringing this exciting opportunity to our community.”
Economic Development Director Anna Nelson echoed the sentiment saying, “It has been a privilege and a pleasure working with the Target Corporation team to help them realize a vision here in Williston as well as fill a regional need.
“This is indicative of the growth we have experienced, a foreshadowing of the growth we expect to see in the coming years, and a milestone in realizing the master plan for Williston Square. We are excited to see this boost traffic across the city and the region, support the economy as a whole, and to see Target become a great neighbor here in Williston,” she added.
The store will be located just west of established tenants Slim Chickens, Genesis, Taco Bell, and 7 Brew. This is in line with the master vision which includes a vibrant live/work/play, shop/dine/stay center, WED stated.
