Victim of Spirit Lake Reservation homicide identified

FORT TOTTEN – The victim of a homicide occurring on the Spirit Lake Reservation Sunday, Jan. 11, has been identified as Jesse Clark Davis, known to family and community members as “JC,” according to information provided by the Spirit Lake Tribal Council.

The Fort Totten Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Department, in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are actively investigating the incident. The suspect, a juvenile male, has been apprehended and is currently in custody, according to the information.

The suspect’s name and identifying information are not being released at this time, in accordance with juvenile justice protections under state and federal law. These protections apply regardless of the severity of the alleged offense.

The incident is believed to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time, the information said.
