Townhall meeting set on ND ballot measures
North Central Republican Women will host a townhall meeting on 2026 ballot measures with the North Dakota Watchdog Network on Thursday, Feb. 12. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at Badlands Bar & Grill, Minot.
The North Dakota Watchdog Network will be conducting a series of townhall meetings, including in Bismarck and Fargo, to educate voters on constitutional measures appearing on this year’s primary and general election ballots.
The townhalls will feature Dustin Gawrylow, managing director of the North Dakota Watchdog Network, and will provide a deep dive into three legislative referrals affecting the state’s initiative process and term limit laws.
A measure on the June 9 primary ballot would restrict the scope of constitutional initiatives to a single subject.
A measure on the Nov. 3 ballot would require a voter supermajority of 60% to pass constitutional amendments. Another measure alters the term limits amendment approved by voters in 2022.
The proposed term limit language states an individual shall not serve more than four complete four-year terms in the legislative assembly. Individuals who serve a partial term would not have those years counted in the 16-year total. Currently, the constitution limits an individual to cumulatively serve no more than eight years in the House and eight years in the Senate, and any partial four-year term does count toward the 16-year total.
